The misers gather wealth but weep when it leaves them. -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 954
Message: For the sake of making more money and quicker profit,we are caught upinexcessive greed. Sometimes, the more we gather the stingier we become. We might gather wealth but live our life frugally, thinking that we will use it later on. Misers, whose main focus in life is to amass wealth, suffer and cry when they see their amassed wealth going away from their possession or control.
After all, this acquired wealth will be left behind. No one has ever been able to take it along. Mere collection of wealth cannot help us to overcome our hunger and suffering. Without acquiring the wealth of spirituality or spiritual values, we will not be able to win the game of life.
Etymology: From Sanskrit krupa? (miserable, misery, stingy).
