Rulda Murder Case: Bhai Tara and Bhai Goldy Produced in Patiala Court

PATIALA, Punjab—Political Sikh prisoners Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara and Bhai Ramandeep Singh Goldy were presented before the Court of Patiala’s Additional Session Judge DP Singla on October 12 in relation to Rulda murder case. Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara was brought from the Chandigarh’s Burail Jail under tight security arrangements while Bhai Ramandeep Singh Goldy was brought from the Nabha jail.

Sharing the development with media, Advocate Barjinder Singh Sodhi, the defense counsel of Bhai Tara and Bhai Goldy, informed that the Court recorded statements of seven witnesses namely the contemporary Inspector Maghar Singh, RTO Office’s Clerk Kuldeep Singh, Patiala Councillor Krishan Chand Budhu, Jaspreet Singh, Navdeep Singh, Driver Bharpoor Singh and Rajinder Singh Jinder. He further informed that the next hearing of the case has been deferred to November 2 & 3.  

Sikh24 has learnt that the Court has directed the rest two dozen witnesses to record their statements during the next hearing.

Rulda “Singh” was the state chief of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat (RSS) in Punjab. He was shot at outside his home on July 28, 2009 immediately after his return from England. He was rushed to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) where he succumbed on August 18, 2009.

A murder case was registered by the Patiala police in this concern under sections 302, 34 and several others in 2009. Bhai Ramandeep Singh Goldy and Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara were tried in this case after extraditing them from Malaysia and Thailand respectively.
