:dateline:Since yesterday, rumors have been spreading that Manjit Singh GK has resigned from the presidency of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. In a press statement, Manjit Singh GK, as well as the interim president, Harmeet Singh Kalka have refuted the rumors as baseless.
As I am planning travels for the 550th Parkash Purab, I have transferred the charge of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committees presidency to Harmeet Singh Kalka, said Manjit Singh GK.
Manjit Singh GK has clarified his stance, however, other political parties have been spreading rumors. There are rumors that Manjit Singh GK has also resigned from the party. I would like to clarify that since Manjit Singh GK is traveling for the entire month, he transferred the charge to me on October 5, said Harmeet Singh Kalka.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has a requirement that if the president is traveling, he must authorize the vice president to take charge. In the past few years, this has happened at least 5 times, and every time, Manjit Singh GK transferred the change to the vice president.
During the press conference, Manjit Singh GK was not present. Harmeet Singh Kalka said, our entire committee is still steadfast that Manjit Singh GK is the president of the DSGMC.
Meanwhile, former president of DSGMC, Paramjit Singh Sarna alleged that Manjit Singh GK has resigned to divert attention from various scams which had been earthed recently. He stated that Manjit Singh GK had withdrawn Rs. 51 lakh from the DSGMC bank account in various transactions recently. He also said that GK paid Rs. 1 crore to fulfill an order of school books that was never fulfilled. Sarna alleged that the books were ordered from a fake address and the printing company does not exist.
