High Court Seeks Immediate Arrest of Culprits Posting Objectionable Content About Guru Sahiban on Social Media

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Acting on a petition seeking probe into posting of objectionable content about the great Sikh masters on social media, the Punjab & Haryana High Court on October 9 ordered the Punjab government to thoroughly probe and conclude such complaints at the earliest. This petition was moved by Jagtar Singh on the behalf of SGPC after observing non-serious attitude of Punjab police in arresting the culprits who have been deliberately hurting Sikh sentiments by posting objectionable content about Sikh master over social media for the few years.

A High Court bench headed by Justice Gurwinder Singh Gill concluded this petition on October 9 by ordering the state government of Punjab to direct the Punjab police to deeply investigate and conclude these cases at the earliest.

It is pertinent to note here that the anti-Sikhism elements are continuously posting objectionable content about the Sikh masters from the past few years to hurt Sikh sentiments but the Punjab police didn’t arrest a single culprit even after being approached by Sikh bodies repeatedly.
