:dateline:To chalk out a full-fledge strategy for celebrating the 484th birthday of fourth Sikh master Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji, the SGPC�s chief secretary Dr. Roop Singh underwent meeting with the local Sikh bodies and societies on September 20. Notably, the SGPC is going to celebrate the birthday of Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji on September 26 following the amended Nanakshahi calendar.
Addressing the meeting, Dr. Roop Singh said that the preparations for celebrating Guru Sahib�s birthday have been begun. Special efforts are being made to aware the local masses about the importance of maintaining cleanliness during the celebrations. �The entire holy city will be decorated and arrangement of �langar� will be made almost around every corner of the city to make the celebrations memorable with the help of local Sikh bodies� he added.
Dr. Roop Singh appealed the representatives of local Sikh bodies to make contribution in organizing �langars�, free medical camps and decorating the city according to their ability. He also appealed the Sikh masses to plant at least one tree and lit dimwits in their homes on this propitious eve. ��
SGPC Secretary S. Balwinder Singh Jaura Singha informed that this year the SGPC is also going to organize special religious competitions for the deaf and dumb students besides the religious competitions among common students.
Representatives of various local Sikh bodies and societies also represented their suggestions for making the celebrations memorable. �
Sri Harmandir Sahib�s Manager S. Jaswinder Singh Deenpur, Additional Manager S. Jaspal Singh Dhadde, S. Gurdeep Singh Salja, S. Surinderpal Singh, S. Kuldeep Singh, S. Harjinder Singh of Amritsar Sangeet Sabha, S. Rajinder Singh, S. Raghbir Singh, Bibi Paramjit Kaur and representatives of several other local societies were also present in the meeting. �
