SGPC Condemns Attack on Edinburgh�s Gurdwara; Appeals Scottish Government to Ensure Security of Sikhs

:dateline:The SGPC president S. Gobind Singh has strongly condemned the bomb attack on Edinburgh�s Gurdwara Sahib. He has said that it was very unfortunate that the miscreants are targeting a Sikh place of worship where the lessons of maintaining communal harmony and welfare of all are taught to the entire humanity.

Longowal further said that the Gurdwaras present in the entire world signifies the principle of equality for all, irrespective of their caste, creed, ethnicity or gender. He added that the Sikhs are playing a leading role in helping the victims of disasters occurring all over the world. �Besides nabbing the assailants, the Scottish government should also take necessary steps to ensure security of Gurdwaras and Sikhs living there� he said.

Longowal has appealed the Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj to take up the matter with the Scottish government and ensure the safety of Gurdwaras there.

It may be recalled here that the�Edinburgh�s Gurdwara Guru Nanak, situated on the corner of Mill Lane and Sheriff Brae in Leith, was attacked with a petrol bomb by unidentified assailants on August 28. Although, no one was injured but the building suffered smoke damage due to this petrol bomb attack. A 49 year old man was arrested by the Police on August 29 in this concern.
