Punjab Government Compensates Victims of Behbal Klan Tragedy

CHANDIGARH—Delivering onto his announcement made on July 30 this year, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on August 27 handed over compensation cheques worth Rupees 9 million each to the family members of the duo martyrs of Behbal Klan tragedy. Notably, Captain had announced compensation worth Rupees 10 million each for the families of the duo martyrs of Behbal Klan tragedy. As Rupees One million were already paid to the victim families during the tenure of preceding SAD-BJP government, the due amount was given to them on August 27.

Beside it, compensation worth Rupees 6 million also was also given to Ajit Singh of village Nathpur (District: Bathinda) who was critically injured in the incident. Captain Amarinder Singh also announced reimbursement of the entire medical expenses incurred on his treatment, besides providing a lifelong medical attendant at a cost of Rs. 15,000 per month.

Similarly, a sum of Rupees 5 million as an assistance was also provided to another injured Beant Singh. The government had already reimbursed a sum of Rs. 2.60 Lakhs on his medical treatment.

While assuring every possible assistance to the victims, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh said on this occasion that no amount of monetary help could ever compensate the loss of a human life.

Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, along with MLAs Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon and Harminder Singh Gill were also present on this occasion.
