PICTORIAL: Referendum 2020 Rally in London Receives Massive Response

LONDON, UK—While the pro-India rally failed to take place at the Trafalgar Square, Sikhs for Justice’s Referendum 2020 Rally witnessed a large gathering. The rally was attended by human rights activists from across Europe and other parts of the World.

Three resolutions were adapted during the gathering –

  • A non-binding resolution will be held internationally, including India and Punjab in November 2020
  • A call to the United Nations to support the resolution on basis that Sikhs are a distinct people with their own ethnicity and language
  • A call to the Sikh diaspora to support the Referendum

Roars of Khalistan Zindabad were echoed throughout the event seeking independent Sikh homeland. Pro-India groups which oppose the referendum also staged a protest; however, their gathering remained small as their official event failed to seek permission of the authorities.

Major Singh, who traveled to UK from the USA said, “Today, no one – be it a daughter of the Sikhs or Hindus, can go outside her home after 7 PM in India. We want to change this. This is not our referendum, we are not the custodians of their campaign. This campaign belongs to each and everyone of you. My appeal to all of you is to remember that we are slaves.”

Jasbir Singh, another Sikhs for Justice activist said, “Tytler said openly that he killed over hundreds of Sikhs. But he is yet to be declared guilty. This is a sign that Sikhs are slaves in India. India law is not to protect us, it is to protect our enemies.”
