Kotkapura Firing: Victim’s Statement was Excluded from FIR to Shield Guilty Cops in 2015

CHANDIGARH—Sikh youth Ajit Singh, who was shot on right thigh by the Police during Kotkapura firing incident, has revealed that the Kotkapura police cops have registered his statement in the fresh FIR by doctoring it according their vested interest. Resident of village Chhanna Gulab Singh of District Barnala, Ajit Singh was seriously injured in the firing opened on Sikh protesters by the police at Kotkapura on October 14, 2015.

Interacting with media on August 9, Ajit Singh said that the Kotkapura police had called him to record his statement on August 7 as per the directions from Punjab government. He added that he surprised to know that the police don’t have his previous statement recorded while registering last FIR registered in October, 2015. “I had disclosed the names of the Police cops, who had opened firing on us, in my statement recorded in October-2015” he added.

It is pertinent to note here that the Faridkot SSP Raj Bachan Singh had also disclosed that the Kotkapura incident was being covered first time in the FIR. So, it becomes clear that the FIR recorded during SAD-BJP regime in 2015 was morphed according to the vested interests of the then state government and the Punjab police.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Ajit Singh has appeared before the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission and has apprised him about the Police’s version about his statement recorded in 2015.
