TARN TARAN—The 250th birthday of Sikh warrior Baba Bir Singh Naurangabadi was celebrated with full fervor and devotion by the SGPC on July 18. A special religious program was held on this occasion at Gurdwara Baba Bir Singh of village Rattoke (Tarn Taran) which was attended by the prominent Sikh personalities.
Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the Hazoori Raagi Jathas of Bhai Rai Singh and Bhai Jaspinder Singh delighted the present attendees with melodious ‘Kirtan’. Kathavachak Bhai Baldev Singh Paonta Sahib also addressed the religious discourse on this eve. Renowned Dhadi and Kavishari Jathas addressed the bravery tales of Baba Bir Singh Naurangabadi to the present devotees.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said that Baba Bir Singh Naurangabadi was a great warrior who laid his life to prevent the Sikh community from becoming victim of internecine war. He appealed the Sikh community to remain united to tackle the challenges emerging in current times.
SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said that Baba Bir Singh Naurangabadi had set an example of how to defend the ones who rely upon you. He added that the life of Baba Bir Singh Naurangabadi is a source of inspiration for the Sikh generations.
