:dateline:Gulab Singh Shaheen, the first Sikh officer in Pakistan police, was yesterday forcibly thrown out of his home in village Dera Chahal situated on the outskirts of Lahore. A team of Police cops and officials of Evacuee Trust Property Board locked his home on July 10 after forcibly throwing him out along with his family.
Appearing visually on Facebook after getting ousted from his home, S. Gulab Singh informed that the Police cops manhandled him by dragged out of his home by pulling from hairs and took away his turban. He accused the former PSGPC president S. Tara Singh of intentionally harassing him through Police cops and ETPB officials. He added that his house had been singled out at the behest of two influential persons.
It may be recalled here that S. Gulab Singh Shaheen was also thrashed on April 4 in a similar attempt by the ETPB officials and he was on medical leave since then.
On being contacted by the media, the ETPB officials said that Gulab Singhs home is standing on the land owned by Gurdwara Bebe Nanki Janam Asthaan.
Refuting the allegations of particularly targeting S. Gulab Singh Shaheen, the ETPB officials said that they had sought police assistance to help clear Gurdwara Chaal Langar Hall of illegal occupants and action is being taken against all those occupying the ETPBs properties.
However, S. Gulab Singh has said that he had secured a stay from court in this concern and the next hearing on this case was on July 18. My family has been living in this house since 1947 and we have been duly paying bills he added.
Appointed a traffic police officer in 2006, Gulab Singh was posted as SI (Traffic Warden) at Mughalpura, Lahore.
