:dateline:The SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal today announced to launch a vehement campaign against the Drug menace in Punjab. Longowal made this announcement after undergoing meeting with the members of SGPCs Dharam Prachaar Committee in Chandigarh.

Interacting with media, S. Gobind Singh Longowal expressed deep concern over the rising deaths of youths in Punjab due to overdose of Drugs. He said that the SGPC has decided to launch a vehement campaign against the Drug menace in Punjab. The SGPCs preachers will aware the common masses about the hazardous effects of Drugs and a special tract about Drug menace will also be distributed among common masses to create awareness among them he added.
Longowal further said that the SGPC has also chalked out a plan to aware the common masses about the hazardous effects of Drugs by conducting awareness marches, by holding seminars and by organizing plays at village level. The SGPC will offer free treatment for drug addicted youths at the Sri Guru Ram Dass Hospital if they aspire to get out of drug addiction he added.
It is pertinent to note here that the recent deaths of Drug addicted youths in Punjab has resulted in the start of a new blame game in Punjab. Leaders of all mainstream political parties like SAD, Congress and AAP are playing this card to corner each other. A recent direction by the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to all the Punjab legislators and government officials has put the senior Akali leadership, especially Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia into worry.
Although the SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal tried to get rid of the situation by offering the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to work jointly against Drug menace but Captain rejected his offer.
