:dateline:Interacting with media on July 4, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal said that the country wide Sikh march to be taken out next year in commemoration of the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji will commence from the Mattan town of Kashmir. He added that the Sikh march will enter in Punjab via Jammu after traversing various Sikh shrines on the way. A cavalcade of J&K Sikhs in 200 buses will enter into Punjab.
Shedding light on the problems being faced by the J&K resident Sikhs, Longowal said that the Sikhs living in Jammu & Kashmir are being deprived of minority status while the Hindus living there are enjoying the benefits of minority status. I tried to meet the Governor of J&K but couldnt get an appointment due to his busy schedule he added.
Longowal informed that the SGPC is making every possible effort to rake up the problems of J&K Sikhs before the J&K government as well as the Union government of India.
The SGPC is establishing a school in Chhatti Singhpura for the betterment of upcoming generations of Sikhs living there Longowal said while adding that the SGPC is making efforts to get back the properties of Gurdwaras taken over by some selfish elements.
