Harmeet Singh Becomes First Sikh Male Anchor in Pakistan

:dateline:Sikh youth Harmeet Singh, who is resident of Chakesar city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been hired as an anchor by a news channel named �Public News� in Pakistan. With his selection in Public News channel, he has become the first Sikh male anchor of Pakistan.

Earlier, Peshawar based Manmeet Kaur was hired as a first Sikh female anchor in a Pakistani TV channel named �Hum TV� in March this year.

“I was always interested in the thriving media industry in Pakistan,” said Harmeet Singh while being interviewed by a media outlet.

“I didn’t use any religion card to gain access in the media industry. I worked hard and did a lot of work before I got any recognition,” he added.

Media veteran Yousaf Baig Mirza, who heads the Public News channel, said that Harmeet Singh was chosen as newscaster due to his flamboyant look and voice pitch.

After completing his masters in journalism from Federal Urdu University Karachi, Harmeet Singh had started his media career as a reporter. Although the immediate family of Harmeet Singh is based in Pakistan, but his extended family members keep on visiting from India.
