550th Birthday Celebrations: DSGMC Announces to Conduct India-Wide Religious Procession

:dateline:Interacting with media at Amritsar Sahib on June 29, the DSGMC president S. Manjit Singh GK said that a religious procession will be taken out in the entire Indian sub-continent next year in commemoration of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He added that a plan is also underway to hold a Kirtan Darbar on zero line of India-Pakistan border for which the DSGMC will contact the concerned ministry of India. �

S. Manjit Singh GK said that the DSGMC will also chalk out other religious programs in collaboration with the SGPC and other Sikh bodies commemorated to the 550th birth anniversary celebrations.

On being questioned about the uproar among Sikh diaspora for a sovereign Sikh state, GK said that he doesn�t support the demand for a separate sovereign Sikh state. However, he admitted that there is a widespread anger among the Sikh community, especially in the Sikh diaspora about deprivation of justice to Sikh victims of the 1984 Sikh genocide.

Answering a query about the upcoming parliamentary elections in 2019, GK said that he is willing of contesting elections from Delhi but the final decision in this concern lies on his party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. �
