:dateline:In pursuance of legal procedure to displace Sikhs from the Punjabi lane of Shillong, the documentation of houses of Sikhs living in Punjabi lane was reportedly checked by the officials of the Shillong Municipal Board on June 26. It is learnt that the officials also gathered information about the families living there and unnecessarily carried out search in their homes.
Expressing strong disagreement with Meghalaya state government�s move to displace Sikhs from the Punjabi, the Sikh women staged peaceful demonstration against the SMB officials. The protesting Sikh women were holding placards with wording �WE OPPOSE THE HIGH LEVEL COMMITTEE�S MOVE TO RELOCATE THE PUNJABI HARIJAN COLONY� etc.
Sikh24 has learnt that the SMB officials completed their duties under the shield of heavy Police and Military deployment. ����
