In the house of Guru Ram Das, Guru Arjun, the supreme devotee of devotees, has descended. -Bhatt Kal, Guru Granth Sahib, 1407

Message: Guru Arjun (1563-1606) was born in Goindwal, a town near Amritsar, Punjab, as the youngest son of Guru Ram Das and Mata Bhani, the daughter of  Guru Amar Das. The Sikh congregation was highly delighted with the birth of the child.

From a young age, the child Arjun lovingly cherished the teachings of the Guru in his consciousness. By illuminating his mind with the blessed company and wisdom of the Guru, he realised the presence of the all-pervading Divine within his heart. In this way, by embracing love and devotion to the Divine, he fulfilled the purpose of human life on this earth.

In the same vein, by seeking the guidance of Gurbani, we can also attain the status of an enlightened individual and be spiritually in harmony with ourselves, others, and the Divine.

Etymology: From Sanskrit arjun (white, clear; made of silver) or arjun (millet, a cereal crop or its pale shiny grain).
