:dateline:In an attempt to create dreadful environment before June-1984 Holocaust anniversary, the Batala police on May 31 framed two Sikh youths under false charges by registering an FIR No. 46 under sections 307, 438, 427, 148, 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police station of Rangar Nangal. A press note about the development was released by the Punjab government June 2 and the arrested youths have been identified as Dharminder Singh and Kirpal Singh.
The press note issued by the Punjab government themes the arrests of duo Sikh youths as an attempt to control spreading of hate crime in the state. The Punjab government has alleged in the press note that the accused were indoctrinated, radicalized and funded by their foreign based handlers including SFJs legal advisor S. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.
As regards purported recoveries from the arrested persons, the press note states: One 0.32 bore Revolver was recovered from the personal search of Dharminder Singh while a 0.30 bore revolver was recovered from possession of Kirpal Singh. During the search of his house, posters regarding Sikh Referendum 2020, stencils of Khalistan Zindabad and Referendum 2020 and spray paint bottles were recovered. One Bajaj Platina motor cycle used by the duo in the crime has also been recovered.
Interestingly, the stated list of recoveries shows that arms were recovered from the arrested youths but there is no mention of sections of Arms & Ammunition Act in the list of sections under which the FIR has been registered. Moreover, the list of sections in FIR includes section 307 of IPC but the statement released by the Punjab government doesnt tender any details about any attempted murder.
It is pertinent to note here that the above mentioned FIR has not been made available online by the Punjab.
What else is new When Sikhs are going to get united irrespective of their political belief’s to fight these injustices.
