:dateline:Under the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal, a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal on June 2 met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to apprise him about the plight of Sikhs living in Jammu & Kashmir. The delegation told the Home Minister that the local administration had been ignoring problems faced by the displaced Sikhs for the last seven decades.
By submitting a memorandum to Rajnath Singh, the Shiromani Akali Dal sought special status for Sikhs living in Jammu & Kashmir. They demanded minority status to Sikhs living in Jammu, implementation of the Anand Marriage Act in the state, rights equal to Kashmiri Pandits and representation of displaced Sikhs in the state Assembly as well as in municipal corporations.
Today I and other party members of Shiromani Akali Dal met Shri Rajnath Singh ji to apprise him of the condition of the Sikh families who lack basic amenities in J&K and requested him to give them a special status so that they can feel like home in their own country. Their sighs won’t go unheard, I will make sure their every word is heard wrote Sukhbir Singh Badal on Facebook while sharing development with his followers.
