:dateline:A jatha of more than 80 Sikhs will depart for Pakistan on June 9 to mark 412th martyrdom anniversary of fifth Sikh master Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Gurdwara Sri Dehra Sahib, Lahore. As per information availed by the SGPC, passports of the wishful Sikh devotees have been sent to the Pakistani High Commission for visa stamping.
Sharing the development with Sikh24, SGPC�s additional secretary S. Diljeet Singh Bedi informed that 118 applicants had submitted their passports with the SGPC to become a part of the Jatha planned to attend the commemoration of Guru Arjan Dev Ji�s martyrdom day. Citing the earlier cases of missing of two devotees from Vaisakhi Jatha, he said that only 81 applications were forwarded to the authorities for verification and visa formalities.
�On our part, we were attentive over the selection of pilgrims but the onus of verification and authenticity will be gauged by government security agencies like the state and Centre�s Home Affairs Departments, the Foreign Affairs Department and the police,� said SGPC�s additional secretary Diljeet Singh.
