Sri Hemkunt Sahib Pilgrimage-2018: Sikh Army men begins work to remove snow from footways

:dateline:Keeping in view the start of Sri Hemkunt Sahib�s pilgrimage on May 25, Sikh army men today begun work to remove snow gathered on the footways leading to Sri Hemkunt Sahib. More than 100 Sikh army men have been deployed to remove snow within 15 days.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, the Vice-President of Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust Narinderjit Singh Bindra informed that the Trust employees have been also sent to all the Gurdwaras situated on the way from Rishikesh to Sri Hemkunt Sahib. He added that the first Jatha will depart on May 22 from Rishikesh and on May 25 from Gobindghat to have glimpse of Sri Hemkunt Sahib on May 25.

S. Narinderjit Singh Bindra further informed that special arrangements are being made for the convenience of pilgrims. �The Management Trust is liable to avail free food, accommodation, health care and other emergency services to pilgrims,� he added. ���

Situated at altitude of 15,197 feet, Sri Hemkunt Sahib is a Sikh shrine in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh master, and finds mention in Dasam Granth, a work dictated by Guru Sahib himself. With its setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks, each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff.�
