Bhoondarh Sacrilege Incident: Culprit woman arrested and booked by the Police

GIDDARBAHA, Punjab—Sacrilege culprit Sapna Rani, who had unsuccessfully tried to steal corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in an extremely disrespectful manner on April 22 from Gurdwara Sahib of village Bhoondarh, has been arrested by the police. She has been booked under section 295 (hurting religious sentiment) of Indian Penal Code along with her brother-in-law Charan Dass. Section 34 of IPC has been also imposed in this case which ensures equal punishment to all the criminals indulged in committing crime with common intention irrespective of their roles.

It has come to fore that the duo culprits Sapna Rani and her brother-in-law Charan Dass were in attempt to run away with stolen corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji but they couldn’t succeed. The duo culprits are followers of Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim who is serving life sentence in Rohtak jail for raping his female disciples.

Interacting with media on April 23, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Giddarbaha) confirmed that the duo accused have been indicted under sections 295 & 34 of IPC on the complaint of Gurdwara president Gian Singh and head granthi (priest) Baba Joginder Singh.
