Saka Vaisakhi-1978: 40th martyrdom anniversary of 13 Sikhs observed by Damdami Taksal

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The 40th martyrdom anniversary of 13 Sikhs, who had sacrificed their lives while protesting against Nirankari chief Gurbachan “Singh” on April 13, 1978, was observed by the Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal at Gurdwara Shaheedganj Sahib. Following the address of religious discourse, the family members of these martyred Sikhs were honored with ‘Siropaos’ (robe of honor) by the Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma.

Ajaib Singh Abhiasi, Principal Suba Singh, Bhai Jeeva Singh, Dal Khalsa’s spokesperson S. Kanwarpal Singh Bittu and others expressed their views on this occasion.

SGPC’s executive members Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, S. Surjit Singh Bhittewind, S. Charanjit Singh Jassowal, S. Jagtar Singh Rode, S. Surinderpal Singh Oberoi, Giani Palwinderpal Singh Buttar, Bhai Avtar Singh, Baba Darshan Singh Tahla Sahib, Baba Ajit Singh Tarna Dal, Prof. Sarchand Singh etc. were also present on this occasion.       

A langar hall built in memory of former Damdami Taksal chief Baba Thakur Singh was also inaugurated on this eve.
