Row over Nanak Shah Fakir: Sikh Youth Bodies to take out March against Akali leaders

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Dal Khalsa backed youth outfit Sikh Youth of Punjab, Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala and Jatha Sirlath Khalsa have announced to take out a march in Amritsar on April 24 to expose the Akali faces responsible for giving clean chit to the controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’. The march will be followed by a conference scheduled for the same day in holy city Amritsar Sahib.

In a meeting held today at Amritsar Sahib, the leaders of these Sikh youth bodies resolved to culminate March at the supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib and submit a memo to the SGPC seeking action against members of the sub-committee who had given nod to the movie.

In a positive development for Sikh nation, the leaders of these three Sikh bodies also resolved to work in coordination with each other to tackle emerging challenges in front of Sikh community.

Sharing the development with Sikh24, SYFB’s Vice President Bhai Ranjit Singh Damdami Taksal informed that the trio bodies were unanimous that sub-committee members of the SGPC, who gave NOC to the film producer, were at fault as they overlooked the Sikh principles and sacred edict of 2003 issued from Sri Akal Takht Sahib prohibiting human representation of Sikh gurus and their family members in any form including through computer graphics.

SYP president S. Paramjit Singh claimed that the sub-committee members have lost moral right to be a member of the august body.

SYFB’s President Bhai Balwant Singh Gopala, Bhai Sukhraj Singh, Jathedar Dilbagh Singh, Bhai Paramjit Singh Akali etc. were also part of this meeting.

It is pertinent to note here that the producer Harinder Sikka has withdrawn the controversial movie ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ as the movie faced immense failure within a day of release.
