(Gurmukhs make) Truth their paper, pen, and inkpot, and while writing Truth consistently, they are absorbed in the True One. -Guru Amar Das, Guru Granth Sahib, 123
Message: If we want to obtain true bliss and enjoy the true gifts of life (joy and peace), we must realise and imbibe divine truth and live by it.
Just like the Gurmukhs (realised wise people), with our minds attuned to this truth, we can head closer to the Divine, sitting within us all.
Only when we realise the truth – the transient nature of life, relations, and pleasures of the world – and consciously work to rein in our desires, do we escape suffering.
Etymology: From Sanskrit mashidhaan/masidhaanee (inkstand) ? Nepali masyaani ? Maithili masihaanee (inkpot).

O Nanak! Blessed is the paper, blessed is the pen, blessed is the inkwell, and blessed is the ink (which is used to write the true Name of the Divine). Blessed is the writer who has written the true Name (of the Divine on the paper of his or her intellect).-Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 1291
