Punjab masses were once again observed marginalized during the much awaited recent visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib. Whereas the entire Sikh community including the mainstream Akali leadership did its best to make Trudeau’s visit memorable, at the same time Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh backed by the Indian state didn’t miss chance to manifest his frustration towards Sikhs.
Although Justin Trudeau didn’t keep any room for appointment with Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh during his visit to Punjab but still Captain managed to get appointment with him via Union Ministry for External Affairs. Facilitation of meeting between Captain and Trudeau was a beneficial deal for both the saffron Indian government as well as the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh. Captain got chance to get rid of embarrassment he was going to face if Justin Trudeau wouldn’t have meet him while the saffron Indian government got its task served as Captain raised issue of Khalistan with him and handed over a list of Canadian Sikh activists to him.
While interacting with media after meeting Justin Trudeau in a hotel of the holy city, Captain said that he took up the militancy concerns with Canadian PM. He further claimed that Trudeau has assured him that the Canadian government will look into this matter.
What could be more embarrassing for the so called Indian nationalists that on one side the Indian media was only projecting news of Captain Amarinder Singh’s meeting with Justin Trudeau but on the other side Trudeau didn’t write even a single word about this meeting from his social media accounts.
Instead, he posted from his Facebook wall, “Sri Harmandir Sahib, known as the Golden Temple. Sacred to Sikhs and open to everyone. I don’t think I will ever forget this. Our cabinet ministers, MPs, Sophie and I were profoundly honoured by the welcome & hospitality today.”
Social Media Trend: Despite of meeting Trudeau, Captain couldn’t save himself from becoming a source of mockery as his photos while waiting for Trudeau in anxiety went viral over social media. Furthermore, anointed forehead of Captain Amarinder Singh was revealing much about the forces active behind arranging his meeting with Justin Trudeau.
Unlike earlier trend, common masses couldn’t find any reason express their wrath over SAD president Sukhbir Badal however a few miscreants tried to misinterpret his photo with Punjab assembly speaker Rana KP Singh by saying that Sukhbir Badal considered him as Justin Trudeau and honoured him instead. While the post was fake, it obviously gave everyone a chance to have a laugh and enjoy the humour.
