550th Birthday Celebrations: Punjab government seeks special from Indian government

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has written a letter to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking special assistance for celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary in Sultanpur Lodhi. He has sought constitution of an executive committee to make robust arrangements for the Gurpurab celebrations and special help for construction of basic infrastructure at the celebration venue.

Sources have informed that Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to constitute an executive committee under patronage of the Union Ministry for Cultural Affairs and personally lead this committee. He has said that the arrangements should be made to internationally celebrate this anniversary and make this occasion memorable.

It is learnt that the Punjab government is also preparing a detailed report about 550th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev and this report will be forwarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in coming days.
