Lifts installed for disabled devotees at entrance gates of Sri Harmandir Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—To facilitate smoother access of holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib to handicapped and old aged devotees, stair lifts have been installed at its entrance gates. Controllable with remote, this lift is capable of commuting a devotee having weight upto 127 kilograms at a time.      

Two lifts have been installed at sanctum sanctorum’s Clock Tower entrance gate which will commute the disabled devotees to periphery and central Sikh museum. Another lift has been installed at sanctum sanctorum’s entrance gate situated on Sri Akal Takht Sahib side.  

It is noteworthy here that lakhs of devotees from all over the world come to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandir Sahib daily. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee keeps on making efforts to ensure smoother access of this central Sikh shrine to devotees.
