SGPC and Akal Takht Authorities to Investigate Fire That Burnt Guru Granth Sahib’s Corpus in Rajasthan

SRI GANGANAGAR, Rajasthan—Following an unfortunate incident that occurred at Gurdwara Sahib village Chak 3LLP (Sri Ganga Nagar) on January 30, in which a corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji reportedly got burnt in fire, is going to be investigated by the SGPC and Akal Takht authorities. The reason behind the fire is said to have originated from short circuit, however, an investigation will be carried out, Sikh authorities from Amritsar announced.

It is learnt that the appointed Granthi of Gurdwara Sahib was not present at the time of incident occurrence.

Speaking to Sikh24, Sri Ganga Nagar based renowned Sikh activist S. Tejinderpal Singh Timma informed that the appointed ‘Granthi’ had gone outside for some urgent work.

He added that the villagers got too late in getting apprised of the incident and a corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji got burnt till that time. “We had informed SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh about the incident,” he added.

“We are not waiting for them to see what action needs to be taken,” he said.
