SGPC To Initiate Youth Committees for Sikhi Parchar; Will Ask GOI to Amend Constitution Section 25

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal has announced to constitute Youth Coordination Committees to robust Gurmat Prachaar Lehar at village level in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh. He has said that role of these committees would be to help the preaching groups in chalking out the programs.

Longowal told Sikh24 that the Dharam Prachaar Lehar initiated by the SGPC won’t be kept limited unto stages instead solid programs to robust this campaign at ground level will be chalked out. He added that school students, college students and sports clubs will also be approached by these committees to encourage them towards the Sikh religion.

Longowal further said that an SGPC delegation will meet the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh in coming days seeking amendment in section 25 (B) of Indian constitution.

“More than 100 amendments have been made in Indian constitution after India’s freedom from British regime but the demand of Sikh community is being ignored from long time despite of its incomparable role in struggle for freedom of India,” he said while talking about Sikhs being termed as Hindus in the Indian constitution.

“Matter of delay in processing of mercy petition pertaining to Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana’s death penalty would also be raked up during this meeting,” he added.
