CHANDIGARH, Punjab—A commission constituted by the Punjab government headed by Justice Mehtab Singh Gill on January 28 directed the Punjab police to scrap off two FIRs registered against Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal after Sarbat Khalsa 2015. Justice Gill has said that it found nothing seditious in the speech and press statements given by the parallel Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal.

It is noteworthy here that the commission was constituted about nine months back to look into the cases of false implication during the 10-year regime of the previous SAD-BJP government.

Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal claimed before the Commission that the then Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and then Revenue Minister Bikramjit Majithia had approached him before the Sarbat Khalsa on November 6, 2015 to request him not to attend the Sikh congregation.

It is learnt that during the course of hearing, an investigating officer stepped in the witness box to say Bhai Daduwal did not deliver any speech according to the FIR registered in November 2015. Another police officer said sanction for presenting challan in the court had so far not been received.

“We have gone through the statements of Baljit Singh Daduwal and the investigating officers and also heard the speech delivered by Daduwal, which was provided by him in a pen drive to the commission. Nothing seditious has been said by him nor has he instigated any violence,” Justice Gill asserted.
