No Regrets: Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara Confesses in Beant “Singh” Assassination Case

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In a six page confession submitted to the trial court in Burail Jail of Chandigarh, former Babbar Khalsa activist Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara has admitted that he was involved in the plan of assassinating former Punjab Chief Minister Beant “Singh”. Bhai Tara has further said that he doesn’t have any regrets for his actions as Beant had carried out genocide of Sikh youths across Punjab.

Sharing a critical development with Sikh24, Bhai Tara’s legal counsel Advocate Simranjit Singh informed that Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara has submitted his confession under section 313 of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure). He further informed that Bhai Tara has justified the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant “Singh” while referring to incidents of Sikh history when the great Sikh masters and other Sikhs sacrificed themselves while fighting against the State’s atrocities.

Advocate Simranjit Singh also informed that the next hearing in this case has been deferred onto February 7.

It may be recalled here that trial against Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara in Beant Singh assassination case was pending as he had fled to Pakistan after Burail jail break episode. Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara was arrested from Thailand in December-2014 and was deported to India in January 2015.
