Jaipur High Court asks State Government To Move Quickly on Bhai Daya Singh Lahoriya’s Permanent Parole

NEW DELHI—Bhai Tarlochan Singh Maneka, who is on bail, appeared in the court of Delhi session Judge Siddharth Sharma under a case registered under FIR No. 77/2007 under section 25 (1), 120-B and 121A.

Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria and Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi were not produced by the Delhi Police and the Punjab Police by using the excuse of not having guards. In this case, important evidence is being filed in the court, in which a witness named DK Tanwar filed his testimony. Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria’s lawyer crossed check the testimony for nearly three hours and Bhai Maneka’s lawyer did not attend the attend the court session, so cross checking could not take place.

At the same time, the Nodal Officer of Airtel of the Punjab Circle was also present and submitted his testimony. An important witness in the same case, Special Cell ACP was asked to appear in court on March 27 to submit testimony.

Likewise, the Rajasthan High Court has directed the State government to take over the case of the Congress leader Rajendra Mirdha.Rajendra is son of Ram Niwas Mirdha, a congress leader. This case pertains to his abduction allegedly by Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria, a Sikh political prisoner. Court asked the State Government to decide for the permanent parole for Bhai Lahoriya. The order was issued by the Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and GR Mulchandani.

Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria is serving life term in the case of abduction of Rajindra Mirdha.   Additional Advocate General BN Sandhu said during arguments in the court, that Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria was currently lodged in Tihar Jail and was brought to India via the extradition treaty from India. He said that Daya Singh Lahoria could not be granted a a fixed parole before 20 years in jail.

The lawyer of Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria told the court that he has completed 20 years in jail but the state government is not considering his case for ‘permanent parole’.

The court has said in two-page verdict that the next parole committee meeting will discuss the matter of permanent parole of Bhai Daya Singh Lahoria. The next hearing in the case will be 27,29,30 and on 31st January.
