AMRITSAR SAHIB—Following the June 1984 holocaust, the Indian state acted by tooth and nail to crush the public momentum that emerged in favour of Sikh sovereignty.
Shaheed Bhai Harminder Singh Sandhu and other All India Sikh Student Federation activists were plaintiff of moulding this public wave to achieve the target sovereignty for the Sikh Nation. Bhai Sandhu’s revolutionary idea of establishing Khalsa Panchayats at the village level to deliver justice to common masses as per Sikh ethos had put the entire Indian state’s machinery into worry.
Bhai Harminder Singh Sandhu also remained a close associate of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale. He was seen as a visionary and an intellectual during the early 1980s. Unfortunately, Bhai Sandhu, along with other prominent Federation activists became target of in-fighting within the Panth, which ultimately benefited the Indian government.
Sikh24 is going to present a documentary in the court of Sikh community which will unearth many hidden facts of the Sikh movement of 1980 & 90’s.
