KHANNA, Punjab—Ramandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh Shera, alleged sharp shooters of serial killings in Punjab, were today produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate Radhika Puri in Khanna in relation to FIR No. 119/16. Notably, this FIR pertains to killing of Shiv Sena leader Durga Prasad on April 24, 2016.

The Police of Payal constituency tried to take their custody on transit remand in another case but the Judicial Magistrate Radhika did not accept the request.  Duo were instead sent into judicial custody.

On April 24, 2016, two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants gunned down Punjab Shiv Sena’s labour wing chief Durga Prasad at Lalehi Chowk in Khanna.  Twenty eight years old Durga Prasad, who was inside his office along with his gunman and party workers, got a call on his mobile phone following which he left his office on his motorcycle, saying that he will be back soon. He didn’t take his security guard along. As he reached Lalhedi Chowk, Durga Prasad was intercepted by two assailants, who had their faces covered with a piece of cloth, shot at him.

Meanwhile, the media reports with unconfirmed sources are revealing that the India’s National Investigation Agency has taken over six cases pertaining to mysterious murders in Punjab for which the Punjab government had been making requests to the Union government of India.
