CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Amid on-going controversy over Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Gurpurab date, Sarbat Khalsa 2016 appointed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, has directed the Sikh community to celebrate parkash (birth day) as per the original Nanakshahi calendar, i.e. on January 5.
Sharing the message of Jathedar Hawara with Sikh24, his legal counsel Advocate Amar Singh Chahal informed that Jathedar Hawara has asked the Sikh community to boycott the SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars as they always speak language of Indian agencies. “Jathedar Hawara has said that these Takht Jathedars have undermined the supremacy of sacred Sikh thrones,” he added.
Jathedar Hawara has said that the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji can’t be celebrated during the martyrdom week of Chaar Sahibzaade, Mata Gujar Kaur Ji and Moti Ram Mehra Ji. He added that if the Sikh community will celebrate Guru Sahib’s birthday as per SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars on December 25, then they will celebrate Guru Sahib’s birthday twice this year and will not be able to celebrate birthday even for a single time in 2018.
The SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars had directed the Sikh masses to celebrate 351st birth anniversary of tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh Ji on December 25. Despite of the fact that SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar had appealed Giani Gurbachan Singh to direct Sikh masses to celebrate birth anniversary on January 5, 2018, but his request wasn’t accepted by the SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars.
SGPC GUNDE SHOULD BE BOYCOTTED AND LET US ALL CELEBRATE GURU GOBIND SINGH JI’S PARKASH PURAB ON 5TH JANUAYR 2018. These are RSS Chamche going along with the bikrami calendar prepared by the so called jotshi’s – SIKH SANGAT SHOW THEM WE do not accept what they dictate. They are trying to confuse the sangat and mis-directing them away of remembering our Sahebzade and Mata Gujar Kaur Ji’s shaheedi purab…… Please do not let these mahants win.
It is high time Sikhs start using their own calendar which is original Nanakshahi Calendar.
