Pakistani Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Sahib’s Gurpurab in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, Pakistan—548th birth anniversary of founder of Sikh faith, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was celebrated with full enthusiasm and devotion by the Pakistani Sikhs in Peshawar (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) on October 24. Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, a religious program was organized in which Kirtani Jathas of Bhai Gurwinder Singh, Bhai Joginder Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Santokh Singh, Bhai Krishan Singh, Bhai Amarjit Singh and Bhai Talwinder Singh delighted the Sikh devotees by reciting the Gurbani verses in melodious tones.

Sharing the details with Sikh24, Peshawar resident Baba Gurpal Singh informed that the Guru Kalgidhar Singh Sabha Society always organizes special programs to mark the historic days as per directions of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He added that the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji has been celebrated some days earlier than November 4 so that the Peshawar resident Sikh masses could attend the grand level birth anniversary celebrations at Sri Nankana Sahib also.   

Baba Amir Singh, Baba Makhan Singh, Baba Wazir Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, Bhai Amrit Singh, Bhai Sarbat Singh, Bhai Ravail Singh, Head Granthi Bhai Charanjit Singh etc. were prominent among the Sikh attendees. Common Sikh masses in large number from Sri Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Sri Panja Sahjb, Buner and Peshawar attended the program.
