(O Divine! In that place) where the lowly are cared for – there, the glance of Your grace and blessings rain down. -Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 15
Message: Gurbani asks us to express our love for the entire humanity, regardless of their wealth, caste, class, colour, creed or race.
The Gurus never discriminated against anyone. They preferred to remain in the company of those who were called and considered to be the lowliest of the lowly.
They saw divine grace where the humble ones were looked after and taken care of.
Like our Gurus, we should use our time on this earth to dwell on divinity and help the needy and poor, irrespective of their caste or social status.
One of the primary tests of the mood of a society at any given time is whether its comfortable people tend to identify, psychologically, with the power and achievements of the very successful or with the needs and sufferings of the underprivileged. -Richard Hofstadter, an Americanhistorian, 1916-1970
