NEW DELHI—Speaking with Sikh24 regarding recent developments, Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on September 3 told Sikh24 that he has appealed the Union Home Minister to intervene in issues of Gurdwara Guru Daangmaar Sahib (Sikkim) & Gurdwara Chungthang and ensure preservation these Gurdwaras.

“Our delegation members, of which I was part of, raked up several important issues with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on September 2,” GK told Sikh24.

“By turning bulldozers towards Gurdwara Chungthang Sahib, the Sikkim government was initiating an ill custom.  We have asked Rajnath Singh to preserve the existence of these Sikh shrines by battling at every front,” GK added.

As per Manjit Singh GK, the DSGMC delegation also raked up the issues of imposition of GST on goods of langar (free food served in community kitchens of Gurdwaras) and ban on entry of Sikh students in examination halls along with Kakaars (symbol of the Sikh faith).

Manjit Singh GK told Sikh24 that the Union Home Minister sincerely listened to the Sikh delegation and ensured to sort the issues at the earliest. He informed that a DSGMC delegation will also meet the Sikkim’s Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling at Gangtok (Sikkim) in the coming days where these issues will be brought up.
