Message: Accomplishments

The verse above makes reference to Baba Pheru or Pheru Mall, the father of the second Guru.

He was a prosperous trader and an ardent devotee who instilled good qualities in his son.

He lived at Khadur Sahib, a small town, situated by the River Beas, about 25 kilometers from Amritsar city.

Guru Nanak appointed Bhai Lehna to be his successor as Guru Angad in 1539 at Kartarpur (now in Pakistan), but advised him to move to his hometown Khadur.

Following his instructions, Guru Angad made Khadur the centre of his preaching and contributed to the development of the city.

Parents play a great role in one’s life. We too as parents, guardians or elders can play that role in imparting healthy and good values to our younger generations.

Helping, sharing, and playing our role as parents effectively will make us fulfilled and blessed.

ਧਨੁ ਜਨਨੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਇਆ   ਧੰਨੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ॥
Blessed is the mother who gave birth (to Guru Angad), and blessed and great is his father. -Guru Amar Das, Guru Granth Sahib, 967
