Bhai Karnail Singh Peermohammad

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In a press note shared with Sikh24, the All India Sikh Students Federation’s President S. Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has sought transfer of Akal Takht Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara to Punjab.

Jathedar Bhai Jagtar Singh was appointed as Jathedar of the Supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib on November 10, 2015 by the ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ (whole Sikh Nation). He is currently being confined in the Tihar jail of Delhi as a convict in the CM Benta Singh’s assassination case.

Karnail Singh has said that Jathedar Jagtar Singh Hawara had been acquitted of all cases pending against him in Delhi and currently there is no case against him in the national capital. Citing extreme back pains being endured by Jathedar Hawara in Tihar jail, Peer Mohammad has said that Jathedar Hawara possesses basic human rights to undergo treatment so he should be transferred to his maternal ground of Punjab immediately.

S. Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has also appealed the Congress led Punjab government to take suitable initiatives to have Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike ended.  Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has been fasting from more than two & half years, seeking the release of Sikh political prisoners who have served their life sentences but are still languishing in jails.
