AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—President of the SGPC Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar, paid a visit to the Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital to visit Charanjit Singh, the volunteer who was severely scalded after falling into a hot cauldron. He announced that the total cost of treatment will be borne by the SGPC and also that the son of sevadar Charanjit Singh will also be employed by the SGPC.

Later, he met the Superintendent of Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital and doctors involved in treatment of  Charanjit Singh. The hospital’s Superintendent Dr. Baljit Singh shared that the critical period for Charanjit Singh has now passed, and that he is recovering at faster rate than before.

The incident had occurred on July 2 when Charanjit Singh was cleaning the cauldron with hot water to prepare ‘Kheer’ (rice cooked in sweet milk) on the historic eve of the 411th anniversary of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. While cleaning the cauldron with hot water, Charanjit Singh had slipped into the cauldron and was scalded severely. He was rescued and rushed to the hospital immediately by SGPC employees.
