Damdami Taksal to Commence Martyrs Gallery Project This Week

AMRITSAR SAHIB—Only two weeks after being assigned a project to install a memorial gallery for Sikh martyrs, commemorating martyrs of the 1984 genocide, the Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal has announced to construct the gallery from July 6.

The SGPC had resolved to install a portrait gallery dedicated to the martyrs of June 1984 holocaust in the basement of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale Memorial, near the supreme Sikh throne, Sri Akal Takht Sahib on June 15.

According to reports, preparations to complete the project were at a peak and the portraits of about 220 martyrs of 1984 genocide were being prepared. Using a modern touch, the Damdami Taksal is to install LED touch screens where visitors would have details about the martyrs at the touch of a finger.

Speaking to Sikh24, Damdami Taksal chief Bhai Harnam Singh Dhumma confirmed the development. He announced that the project of martyrs’ gallery would be formally commenced on July 6 at 9 am in the morning. He further informed that a portrait of 15th chief of Damdami Taksal Baba Thakur Singh will also be installed in the central Sikh museum on the same day.
