:dateline: Commemorated to martyrs of the June 1984 holocaust, the pro-freedom Sikh outfit Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) today took out a march in the holy city of Amritsar. Following the culmination of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the march commenced from historical Sikh shrine Gurdwara Sri Lohgarh Sahib under the leadership of Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala and S. Simranjit Singh Mann. The march concluded at supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib after traversing through the Hall Baazar and Golden Temple road where the Sikh activists chanted pro-freedom slogans.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Youth Akali Dal Amritsars patron S. Eman Singh Mann lashed out on Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for attending the Antim Ardas of butcher DGP KPS Gill. Paying tributes to the martyrs of Sikh struggle, he recalled that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has attended the Antim Ardas of the person who was responsible for extra-judicial murders of Sikh martyrs.
SADAs General Secretary S. Amrik Singh Ballowal said that the pain of unhealed wounds of June 1984 holocaust on Sikh psyche was intensifying day by day. He added that only by struggling for the establishment of sovereign Sikh state Sikhs can pay true tribute to the martyrsthe Khalsa Panth.
Meanwhile, ina press note shared with Sikh24, Simranjit Singh Mann opposed the shutdown call given by Dal Khalsa on June 6. Notably, the Dal Khalsa has been giving call for Amritsar shutdown on June 6 since 2014.
S. Simranjit Singh Mann stated that each year June 6 recalls the pain of Sikh psyche and giving the call for Amritsar shutdown on June 6 “was worth reducing the seriousness of the issue”. Hailing SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar for uniting Sikh factions to observe 1984s holocaust anniversary, S. Simranjit Singh Mann addedthat when the SGPC was making efforts to mark the event with unity then what is the need to give call for Amritsar shutdown.
Meanwhile, Dal Khalsas spokesperson S. Kanwarpal Singh has said that shutdown was the best way to express protest in democratic manner. He has said that the Dal Khalsa was ready to cooperate with SGPC to mark the 1984 Holocausts anniversary but the issue of shutdown call was unrelated.
