SGPC Outraged As Armed Goons Loot Gurdwara Sahib in Saharanpur

SAHARANPUR, UP, India—A Gurdwara Sahib in Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) was reportedly looted by armed goons on May 19. The looters took away cash worth Rs. 45000/- along with the donation box and precious artifacts of the Gurdwara Sahib at gun point.

Speaking to Sikh24, the appointed ‘Granthi’ (Priest) of Gurdwara Sahib S. Charan Singh reported that the looters entered into Gurdwara Sahib at 1:30 am tied up the person present in the Gurdwara premises. He added that the looters looted the Gurdwara Sahib for more than one hour.

“We all were locked in a room by the robbers as they looted the Gurdwara Sahib for more than an hour”, he said. 

Meanwhile, the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Aditya Nath to take strict action against the culprits.

Speaking to Sikh24, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar said that if the spiritual places are not safe then the plight of the common man can be well gauged in India. He added that this incident has raised a question mark on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. “I have asked for the intervention of CM Yogi Adityanath to take action against the responsible culprits and apprehend them as soon as possible,” he said.

The SGPC has also formed a committee which will visit the concerned Gurdwara Sahib in Saharanpur to gather first hand information about the incident. The committee comprises SGPC senior vice-president S. Baldev Singh Kaimpur, member S. Manjit Kaur and Manager of Gurdwara Kapal Mochan S. Harwinder Singh.
