Meaning: noun: Transgressor or wrongdoer.

Quote:

ham ap-raa-dhee sad bhool-te tumh bakh-san-haare.

(O Divine!) We are wrongdoers, constantly committing mistakes, but You are infinitely forgiving (You always forgive our mistakes). -Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 809

Message: Infinite Forgiver of endless faults

The above verse prompts us to acknowledge our foolish acts. It teaches us that the Divine is always forgiving.

Children often, instead of loving their parents and thanking them for their gifts, fall in love with new gifts and forget the past so easily.

Similarly, we adults are often so engrossed and preoccupied with our huge egos that we forsake the Giver who bestowed all the blessings upon us.

We should not be so involved in the pursuits of worldly possessions that we forget the Giver of these gifts.

Instead we show gratitude for all the gifts that the Divine has endowed on us and remember Him at all times.

Etymology: From Sanskrit aparaadhin (sinner, guilty).
