As a child innocently makes thousands of mistakes and correspondingly a father teaches and scolds him in many ways but still hugs him in his embrace (so does the Divine forgives our past actions and place us on the right path for the future). -Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 624
Message: Supportive Father
The Guru teaches how we can fearlessly approach the Divine for forgiveness and mercy by identifying Him as our Father.
Like a father to a child, the Almighty forgives us for our mistakes and guides us.
He knows our state of mind. He listens to our prayers. But mere recitation of words is not enough. We need to humble ourselves before Him and seek His guidance through Gurbani to lead a virtuous life.
When we sincerely request for forgiveness and seek to mend our mistakes, we will be rid of our anxieties and will enjoy a state of inner peace.
Etymology: From Sanskrit and Pali baal/baalak (young, foolish, boy under five years old).
