Captain Amarinder Singh pays obeisance at sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib; Honored by SGPC Officials

:dateline:For the first time after becoming Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh today paid obeisance at the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib amid tight security arrangements.

Before paying obeisance inside the sanctum sanctorum, Captain Amarinder Singh traversed the periphery of Sri Harmandir Sahib. He was honoured with Siropao (robe of honour) by Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh inside the central Sikh shrine.

Later, the SGPC executive members and officer bearers also honoured him inside the information office.

Interestingly, SGPC president Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar and General Secretary Amarjit Singh Chawla remained absent on this occasion.

Meanwhile, incidents of Police highhandedness have also come to fore during the visit of Captain Amarinder Singh. Some media reporters were reportedly manhandled by the Police personnel deployed in civil dress.

SGPC Chief Secretary Harcharan Singh has also confirmed that many significant personalities pay obeisance at the central Sikh shrine without causing harassment to common Sikh masses but this time the Punjab police didnt trust SGPC task force which led to harassment of devotees.

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar, MP from Amritsar Gurjit Singh Aujla, Cabinet Ministers Manpreet Singh Badal, Rana Gurjit Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sadhu Singh Dharmsot were accompanying the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on this occasion.

  1. He will have to lead a double life.

    One for the

    1) High command of Congress
    2) Akal Takth

The problems? will start when both will be at logger head.as happened during the Indirra- Bhinderenwale Punjab of
    1980-90.

  2. Congress is an Empires party Kaur.
Its primary duty is to rule over India on the behalf of EMPIRE.
The other two tools for administering India includes the constitution and the client army.

  3. Did he stand in line or he was allowed go thru the back door. Thieves always look for a shortcut I am reasonably sure he was provided the shortcut in collusion with the thieves of SGPC. Visiting a place doesn’t make one a sikh. It is the deeds which make a person Sikh. So far his deeds prove otherwise.
