Sunil Kumar Jakhar appointed as head of Punjab Committee

:dateline:Confirming the fact that the Hindu community acted as a boat saver of Congress in Punjab, �the Congress leadership on May 4 appointed Sunil Kumar Jakhar as Head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. It is learnt that Jakhar was choice of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and the Congress’ Vice-President Rahul Gandhi also endorsed it.

Political analysts are saying that the Congress has tried to maintain the community equation in Punjab by appointing Sunil Kumar Jakhar as its state head eyeing on upcoming Parliament elections of 2019. Currently, the Congress has only 3 Parliament members from Punjab out of total 13 Parliamentary seats.

It is pertinent to note here that 63 years old Sunil Kumar Jakhar had been three time legislator from Abohar assembly segment but this time he lost his seat after getting demobilized from his home turf in recently concluded polls. �

Interacting with media after getting appointed as state head of Congress, Sunil Kumar Jakhar said that his prime focus will be preparing for the�Parliament elections of 2019. He added that he would act as a bridge between the Punjab government and Congress cadre to ensure the fulfilling of all the promises made by Congress in 2017 assembly polls.
