SGPC appoints Giani Sukhdev Singh as Head Granthi of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—The SGPC today appointed Giani Sukhdev Singh as the Head Granthi of Supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Giani Sukhdev Singh took charge as a Head Granthi in the presence of SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh.

The post of Akal Takht Sahib Head Granthi was vacated after Giani Gurmukh Singh was suspended by the SGPC.  Giani Gurmukh Singh was the Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, however, he was suspended by the SGPC for speaking out against the role of Sukhbir Badal in the Sacha Sauda pardon row.  The post had remained vacant since April 21.

The SGPC had accused Giani Gurmukh Singh of not abiding by the Sikh traditions as he had not attended the meeting of SGPC appointed five Singh Sahibans at Sri Akal Takht Sahib in a closed room. But in reality he was sacked for unearthing the truth of pardon granted to Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim by the Takht Jathedars on September 24, 2015. He had exposed that the Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal had forced the Takht Jathedars to grant pardon to Gurmeet Ram Rahim in blasphemy charges.

  1. Great – once again chosen from the Badal clan so as they can carry on diluting Sikhs heads with hindu ideology! Of course if you speak the truth you will be sacked and the ones remain are their puppets too scared to lose their income – shame on you that join this clan – boycott them.

  2. Please appoint all the jathedars head granthis etc from badal clan so we can eliminate this everyday charade of firing and hiring.
